One more day in France. Soon to hop on a train to Paris, or so I thought. Everybody seems to be sleeping still. It's a rainy day in the country... I might just try to enjoy that.

In going to wait to post my project until it's done in a couple weeks. I had a great, tough critique yesterday from wade and the other artists. I've been searching for this thing it's going to take for me to get to this next level and I think all the information is there now.

I actually wish I could spend the day painting, but dry time won't allow. I thing I might be making a big switch to pastel. Seriously. It's not just for kids anymore.

Only 3 days of France left! One of those days being a painting day,
one a crit day, and one free in Paris. Spent the day down in Paris
once again today with Amber from the residency. We hit up Palais de
Tokyo / Musee d'Art Moderne for an amazing contemporary exhibition DYNASTY. So much
inspiration. Most definitely one of those life-changing art
experiences. One of these days I'll parse through all my museum
photos and get them uploaded.

There were some brilliant art blurbs alongside the work, particularly
the bad work. My favorite (and I'll be using this in my midterm
crits, thank you) was "situating his painting method in an underground
faction of art history where pleasure and irony reign in unison."
This is the best way I've ever heard to rationalize painting
cheeseball paintings (in this case, bunnies).

Remind me never to go to museums here in the summer. It was impossibly crowded and the top 2 floors were closed for renovations.

Monet's gardens are so beautiful

It's been raining every day here for most of the trip, but a few of us managed to find a dry morning to explore Monet's gardens. They were breathtaking and tourist-filled - an odd experience. The inside of his house was filled with quality Japanese woodblock prints including about 20 from Hiroshige and Hokusai, which was of great interest to me as they inform the linear and spatial qualities of much of my work.
